Bangalore's medical colleges range from long-established government institutions attached to some of the city's busiest teaching hospitals, to private, NMC-recognised colleges that admit a share of students through management quota after NEET. Here is where things stand for 2026.

Always confirm current NMC recognition and RGUHS affiliation directly with the college before paying anything โ€” we verify this for every college we work with.

Government Colleges

Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute (BMCRI), established in 1955, is Karnataka's flagship government medical college, attached to Victoria Hospital, Vani Vilas Hospital and Minto Eye Hospital โ€” offering some of the deepest clinical exposure in the city at government-regulated fees. ESIC Medical College is the other government-run option, run under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation, with similarly low fees for eligible categories.

Leading Private Colleges

St. John's Medical College is widely regarded as Bangalore's top private medical college, run as a Christian minority institution with its own teaching hospital and a strong reputation in community medicine. M.S. Ramaiah Medical College (MSRMC) and Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) follow closely, both offering a full range of MD/MS specialities and hospitals with high daily patient volumes for hands-on training.

Established Private Colleges (Management Quota Gateway)

Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences, Rajarajeswari Medical College (RRMCH), East Point College of Medical Sciences, Akash Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMSRC) and Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMSRC) are where most management-quota MBBS admissions in Bangalore actually happen โ€” each NMC-recognised, RGUHS-affiliated, and attached to their own multi-speciality hospital for clinical postings.

Where management quota fits in

Every private college above reserves a defined share of seats for direct, management-quota admission, filled after the main NEET/KEA counselling rounds close, for candidates who cleared the NEET qualifying cutoff but did not get a merit seat. Karnataka's Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) sets the ceiling for these seats too โ€” a genuine college will always put the seat and fee details in writing before you pay.
